Athletigen is happy to announce the newest member of the team.
Meet Brista Mayfield, an elite Crossfit athlete with some serious performance goals. Mayfield, of Anna, Texas, has been training for the Crossfit regionals which kick off Friday, May 19, 2017.
A former gymnast, she has been a Crossfit athlete since 2010. It started out as a way to stay fit but Mayfield fell in love with the sport. She first made it to Crossfit regionals in 2011 and again in 2012.
In 2013, Mayfield took a break from Crossfit to have her son, who now goes to the crossfit box – Crossfit TBR – every day with her. A year later, she was back at it. This time with her professional coach, Aaron Evans.
“I’ll tell anybody she’s the best athlete to work with, bar none, out of anyone I’ve every worked with. I don’t know how she does it. Whatever it takes to make herself better, she just does,” said Evans, who is based out of Atlanta, Georgia. “I won’t say there is no one as committed (as her), but to have a husband who travels, to have a little son who comes to the gym with you 100 per cent of the time, to work all in between that, catch no breaks… I don’t know how she does it.”
Mayfield and Evans started using IrisTM this year to help personalize training by factoring in Mayfield’s DNA with her daily environment and to help with their long distance, coach-athlete communication.
“Body-wise, health-wise, recovery-wise I’m feeling really good,” said Mayfield. “Each year I’ve added something different to my training. It was adding a coach, really dialing in on my nutrition, and I think this year the biggest challenge for me will be the mental part of it, that, coupled with the little underling things that I may not be aware of, sleep, stress, those types of issues.”
Here’s more on the technology Mayfield and Evans have been using.
